"Sama" was filmed as part of the "Creating Cinema in the Triangle" project, which I wrote, shot, and directed. I chose a sensitive and difficult topic: sexual harassment and assault, the exploitation of young children. In the case of Sama, a young girl who is trapped in her own mind.
I opted for long and quiet scenes that convey the underlying chaos that the viewer can imagine but not see directly. In my opinion, this effect is more impactful than explicitly showing the act of assault. Please tell me what you think.
Thank you!
